Defiance Defiance 2050 Shutting Down On April 29

Defiance, Defiance 2050 shutting down on April 29

Open-world shooter will no longer be playable after next month

Players have until April 29 to experience the games before they are shut down

Developer Trion Worlds has announced that Defiance and Defiance 2050 will be shutting down on April 29. The news was announced on the game's Steam page, where the developer thanked players for their support over the years.

Defiance was a free-to-play online shooter that was released in 2013. The game was set on a terraformed Earth in the year 2046, and players took on the role of Ark Hunters, who were tasked with protecting the planet from alien invaders. Defiance 2050 was a standalone expansion that was released in 2018. It featured new content and improvements over the original game.

Trion Worlds did not give a reason for the shutdown, but it is likely due to the game's declining player base. Defiance has been losing players for several years, and it is now one of the least-played games on Steam.

Players who have already purchased Defiance or Defiance 2050 will be able to continue playing the games until they are shut down on April 29. However, no new content or updates will be released for either game.
